In January 2024, viewers can look forward to Jason Statham, one of the busiest action stars of our time, taking the lead role in the amusingly absurd “The Beekeeper”. Nonetheless, the question remains: will this movie’s outrageous concept be enough to captivate audiences and transform it into a true box office sensation?
Director David Ayer’s newest project, titled “The Beekeeper,” is projected to have a modest start at the box office, with an estimated opening weekend earnings ranging from $8 to $13 million, according to Box Office Pro. However, the film may face some stiff competition as “The Book of Clarence” is also set to premiere alongside it next weekend. Additionally, Paramount’s “Mean Girls” musical is expected to dominate the weekend, potentially earning $20 million or more. Nevertheless, the MLK holiday weekend has historically proven to be profitable for the right movie, leaving room for multiple films to find success.
This movie has an advantage because it stands out as the only option for viewers seeking a straightforward action film. “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is already losing popularity, and it falls more into the superhero fantasy genre. Michael Mann’s “Ferrari” may have some overlap in terms of target audience, but it hasn’t been performing strongly so far. Therefore, while there are other films currently playing, none of them pose a significant obstacle to this movie finding its intended viewers.
