The Sparkle Stays with Jen! Legal Rights Grant Jennifer Aniston Ownership of $500K Diamond Ring from Justin Theroux

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux recently surprised everyone by announcing their separation after a short span of two-and-a-half years of marriage. They now face the challenge of dividing their assets and moving on with their respective lives. However, it appears that Jennifer’s eight-carat, emerald-cut diamond engagement ring, reportedly valued at $500,000, won’t be part of the equation.

Better times: Jennifer didn't appear to be wearing her blingy diamond engagement ring when she and husband Justin Theroux posed for an event in Paris in April last year

During an event in Paris last year, Jennifer Aniston was seen without her diamond engagement ring, leading to speculation about its whereabouts. Despite having signed pre-nuptial agreements before their wedding, the ring, given to her by husband Justin Theroux on August 10, 2012, is considered her separate property and not covered by the agreement, according to family law specialist David Glass.

The Friends star will not have to give back the eight-carat, emerald-cut diamond engagement ring, said to be worth $500,000, according to legal expert David Glass

According to legal expert David Glass, the Friends star will not be required to return the expensive eight-carat, emerald-cut diamond engagement ring rumored to be worth $500,000. This is because if the couple gets married, the recipient can keep the ring. While Jennifer retains ownership of her $21 million Los Angeles mansion, Justin, who stars in HBO’s The Leftovers, owns an apartment in New York City that he purchased for $600,000 in the early 2000s and recently spent $1 million renovating. Jennifer’s net worth is estimated at $200 million, significantly higher than Justin’s.

Normal pre-nup details: Both stars are expected to hold on to the properties they owned before their marriage, including Jen's $21 million L.A. mansion which is still in her name

The regular prenuptial agreement clauses state that the celebrities must retain ownership of their respective properties that they possessed prior to their marriage. This includes Jennifer’s $21 million residence in Los Angeles, which remains in her name. David Glass speculated that the couple most likely had a prenup that protected the monetary value of their individual assets that existed before marriage and any subsequent appreciation in their worth. The division of joint assets such as shared bank accounts and jointly purchased property is the only thing left to be settled, according to Glass, as the couple’s latest noteworthy event occurred in July.
