The Director of She-Hulk Envisions Jennifer Lopez Joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Kat Coiro, the director of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and known for her collaboration with Jennifer Lopez on the film Marry Me, has expressed her desire to have J-Lo join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Director Kat Coiro, who worked with Jennifer Lopez on the film Marry Me, has expressed her desire to see J-Lo join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Coiro is currently directing the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, which stars Tatiana Maslany as defense attorney Jennifer Walters, who gains the Hulk’s powers after an accident involving her cousin, Bruce Banner. In She-Hulk, Jennifer must balance her life as a 6’7″ green superhero with her career as a lawyer specializing in superhuman cases.
Aside from Maslany, the cast of She-Hulk includes Mark Ruffalo reprising his role as Smart Hulk, as well as Ginger Gonzaga, Jameela Jamil, Josh Segarra, Jon Bass, and Renée Elise Goldsberry. The show will also feature appearances from Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Charlie Cox as Daredevil. While the series already boasts an impressive lineup, Coiro has a specific actor in mind that she would like to see join the MCU.
During a recent interview, Coiro revealed her dream of bringing Jennifer Lopez into the franchise. Although Coiro did not specify what role or project she envisions for J-Lo, she expressed her desire to make it happen. With Coiro’s aspirations known, fans will have to wait and see if Jennifer Lopez will make her mark in the Marvel universe.

Casting Jennifer Lopez in the MCU would be a fantastic move, reminiscent of Harry Styles’ unexpected appearance in Eternals. Interestingly, J-Lo was actually fan-cast as She-Hulk back in 2018 after sharing a photo on Instagram displaying her impressive muscles. However, the role ultimately went to Tatiana Maslany for the Disney+ series. Nevertheless, as the MCU expands and draws in more A-list celebrities, it would not be challenging to find a role within the franchise that suits J-Lo’s unique talent.
Before working on the She-Hulk series, director Kat Coiro helmed the 2022 romantic comedy Marry Me, starring Lopez as a famous pop star who impulsively decides to marry a random fan, portrayed by Owen Wilson. Throughout the process of creating the film, Coiro and Lopez developed a strong bond. Prior to the movie’s release on Peacock, the director took to social media to express her heartfelt admiration for the actress. It seems that their working relationship is not yet complete, as Coiro is now actively campaigning to bring Lopez into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
