The Dazzling Power of Taylor Swift’s Jewel-Encrusted Cat Eye

Taylor Swift has been rocking her iconic black cat eye makeup for over ten years, but for the launch of her tenth studio album, Midnights, she decided to switch things up with the help of makeup artist Pat McGrath.

In a TikTok video, Swift hints at a stunning cat eye makeup look, possibly the most dazzling one ever seen. Lip-syncing to her new song “Vigilante Shit,” she sings, “Draw the cat eye sharp enough to kill a man.” The video starts in black and white, but when the beat drops, it switches to full color, showcasing a mesmerizing eye adorned with crystal and blue gems. The elaborate jewels are connected by a bold black cat eye with an extremely long and sharp wing, accompanied by Swift’s iconic crimson lip.

It looks like Swift is hinting at a big release in the near future, and all signs point to it possibly being a music video. Especially since Midnights is known to be a visual album.

If you’re still in search of Halloween makeup ideas or just want to spice up your look, McGrath’s team recently revealed the details behind Swift’s stunning sparkly glam. Starting with Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection foundation and concealer for a flawless base, McGrath then used shades like Blitz Venus, Skintense Glow, Astral Lilac Aura, Xtreme Nocturne, and Platinum Dusk from the Mothership X: Moonlit Seduction Palette, along with Sterling from the Mothership IV: Decadence Palette to create a mesmerizing eye makeup look. The cat eye was shaped using PermaGel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil and Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Xtreme Black, and crystals were added to Swift’s eyelids and corners with eyelash adhesive. To complete the look, McGrath used PermaGel Ultra Lip Pencils in Deep Dive and Blood Lust, and topped it off with a coat of LiquiLust Legendary Wear Matte Lipstick in Elson 4 for that bold scarlet lip.

Although this dazzling look was designed for a unique project, it shares a noticeable similarity to Swift’s glamorous appearance at the 2022 VMAs. Her look included plenty of sparkle, sharp eyeliner, and a bold red lip. Some fans speculated if this look was a nod to her 2017 album “Reputation” or if Swift was hinting at a new era of glitter and luxury. Known for being ahead of the game, we’ll have to wait for the release of this mysterious project to know for sure.
