The Astonishing Ride of Jason Statham in “Furious 7”: A Not So Unexpected Delight

In just a few weeks, “Furious 7,” the highly anticipated addition to the beloved “Fast and Furious” franchise, will hit theaters. Fans have been eagerly awaiting any details about the film, and now we finally have some information about the car that the notorious villain, played by the incredible Jason Statham, will be driving. Brace yourselves, because it’s a Jaguar! Deckard Shaw, the menacing character, starts the movie in a sleek white Jaguar F-Type.

Anyone who has been tuning in to television over the past year will likely find this news unsurprising. Jaguar has been running a compelling marketing campaign called “Good to be bad,” which took off with an exceptionally sinister Super Bowl advertisement.

The advertisement stars iconic British actors Sir Ben Kingsley, Mark Strong, and Tom Hiddleston, known for their roles as villains in movies. These talented actors help convey why British individuals excel in portraying villains on screen. Alongside their compelling speeches, the ad showcases shots of the Jaguar F-Type cruising through the streets of London. This marketing campaign aims to establish Jaguar as a stylish and alluring option that carries a bit of mischief, in contrast to the more conventional luxury cars like Mercedes and BMW that currently dominate the market.

And it appears to have been successful, as Jaguar Land Rover achieved its highest sales year ever in 2014.
Similar to the other characters in the “Fast and Furious” series, Statham’s character, Shaw, will not be limited to driving only one car. In the movie, Shaw will also be seen driving a customized Maserati Ghibli and an Aston Martin Rapide.

And this won’t be the only negative portrayal of Jaguar on the big screen by Jag. The strikingly beautiful C-X75 from the carmaker will be featured as the formidable vehicle for the antagonist in the upcoming James Bond movie, “Spectre.”
The Jaguar F-Type sports car is a widely acclaimed successor to the iconic E-Type from the 1970s. It boasts impressive performance with an optional 5.0-liter, 550-horsepower, supercharged V8 engine. This sleek cat can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.9 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 186 mph.
