The singer, 41, was delighted to be there and addressed the locals in Arabic, saying “Hello Tannourine, thank you, I am happy to be here!” To ensure security, the visit was highly guarded, and Shakira also stopped at a nature reserve that is home to Lebanon’s national emblem, cedar trees. During her visit, she planted two saplings in the reserve alongside local officials.
Shakira recently visited Tannourine, a mountain village in the north of Lebanon, where she was bestowed with an honor. The mayor of Tannourine, Bahaa Harb, announced that a small area of the reserve would be named after Shakira Mubarak, one of her family names. The Cedars International Festival kicked off with Shakira’s concert, which was expected to draw a crowd of 13,000 people.
