The pop star has revealed she has been invited to the event 'many times' before attending for the first time this week she has 'always' had other things on.

The famous singer mentioned that she had received multiple invitations to the event in the past, but this week was her first time attending because she always had conflicting commitments.

She told US TV show Extra: 'This is my first Met Gala. I've been invited many times but it never happened, there was always something. So finally, I was able to come and I'm so excited!'

Hosting duties will be taken on by Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony, and Ashley Graham, with YouTuber Emma Chamberlain set to conduct red carpet interviews with the stars. Last year’s gala paid tribute to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
