Shakira and Nick Jonas Team Up for High-Energy Performance on NBC’s Dance Mania

Shakira and Nick Jonas came together once again at Radio City Music Hall yesterday to discuss their latest project, Dancing with Myself. Created in partnership by Shakira and Liza Koshy, the show is set to debut on NBC on May 31st with eight exciting episodes.

Taking cues from the popular app TikTok, the program features Shakira and Jonas as the “heroes” who step in to help out contestants who have been voted off the show by viewers. In a conversation with TODAY, Shakira explained, “It’s up to us to rescue those who didn’t make it through the audience vote.”

During the NBCUniversal Upfront event, Shakira and Nick Jonas shared the spotlight at the iconic Radio City Music Hall to unveil their latest project, a thrilling competition called Dancing with Myself. Hosted by Camille Kostek, the show features 12 talented individuals who demonstrate their dance expertise in specially-designed pods, with the audience voting to crown the ultimate winner of a cash prize. Shakira stressed that the emphasis of the show is not on technical perfection, but rather on the contestants’ enthusiasm for dance and their desire to express themselves through movement. The eclectic mix of participants includes kids, healthcare workers, teachers, builders, pilots, and even dentists. While the judges have the authority to save contestants they feel deserve to continue, they aim to offer constructive feedback without tearing them down, setting them apart from the more critical judges found on programs like The Voice.

Who needs judges, right? A man from Colombia in his forties has teamed up with Liza Koshy to create a lively and entertaining eight-part series inspired by TikTok. This show, scheduled to premiere on May 31st on NBC, will follow the pair as they transform into “heroes” with the help of a 29-year-old from New Jersey.
