On Thursday night, Blackpink, the K-pop girl group, and Selena Gomez released a collaboration music video for Ice Cream. Selena, with her star power and incredible three-octave soprano pipes, joined the Korean sensations in the fun and candy-colored video. The talented group consists of four members: Lalisa ‘Lisa’ Manoban, Kim ‘Jisoo’ Ji-soo, Roseanne ‘Rosé’ Park, and Jennie Kim, hailing from Thailand, Korea, and New Zealand. YG Entertainment assembled the group in 2016, the same entity that masterminded Psy’s viral hit Gangnam Style.
Care for a taste? Selena Gomez lent her fame and impressive vocal range to support K-pop girl group Blackpink in their latest music video for their joint project titled “Ice Cream.” The candy-themed video was released on Thursday evening.
The four members of the South Korean sensation are Lalisa ‘Lisa’ Manoban, a Thai rapper, Kim ‘Jisoo’ Ji-soo, a Korean singer, Roseanne ‘Rosé’ Park, a Kiwi belter, and Jennie Kim, a Korean singer. The 28-year-old pop star from Texas also contributed to writing the flirty lyrics of the song which is filled with innuendos, “Diamonds on my wrist so he call me ice cream / You can double dip cause I know you like me.” However, viewers will not see the girls donning any diamonds or consuming ice cream in the music video. Selena Gomez, who worked with her regular stylist Kate Young, wore various cute and midriff-baring outfits. The hairstylist, Marissa Marino, styled the former Disney Channel star’s black hair into forties-style hairdos, while the make-up artist, Melissa Murdick, ensured her lashes were long and lips were pink.
The fantastic foursome, consisting of young ladies aged between 23 to 25, was formed by YG Entertainment in 2016, the creative force behind Psy’s chart-topping hit Gangnam Style.
The pop sensation, who identifies as a Texan and Mexican hybrid, contributed to the playful and suggestive lyrics of the song which includes the line: ‘He calls me ice cream because of the diamonds on my wrist, and you can indulge in me twice because I know you’re fond of me.’
The music video features a phallic prop, but it’s interesting to note that neither Selena nor Blackpink are seen eating ice cream or donning diamonds throughout the video.
Gomez rocks the gingham trend with her own spin! She sports a range of vibrant, midriff-baring outfits expertly chosen by her trusted stylist, Kate Young.
Marissa Marino, the hairstylist, styled the raven hair of the former Disney star into 1940s-inspired hairdos, while the makeup artist Melissa Murdick ensured that she had long lashes and wore pink lipstick.
