Selena Gomez was prepared to be protective when she escorted her six-year-old sister, Gracie Teefey, to her red carpet debut at the Frozen 2 premiere last month.
During an interview on the BBC Radio 1 show Sounds, Selena, who is 27 years old, revealed that “I bent down and I looked at her before we stepped on.”
“And I said, ‘If you get nervous, if you get overwhelmed, just you know, pull my hand and I’ll take you off immediately.'”
She remembered Gracie with fondness and said, “Okay.” Then she casually walked straight on the carpet and enjoyed her moment with the feathers.
The pop artist warmly recalled, “And I’m standing there, I’m like, ‘Gracie, why not get me in the picture too!’ She was just living her life.”
Selena told host Nick Grimshaw, affectionately known to fans as ‘Grimmy,’ that “Honestly, it was the coolest feeling” to take Gracie to the red carpet.
I told her, “This is my favorite carpet I have ever done.” Because she has never done any of them and we didn’t force her to do that.
She shared, “It’s everything we do to keep her safe. But my sister has become very dramatic now, so she’s all about the dresses and the glitter.”
The ex-girlfriend of Justin Bieber said on the UK radio show, “Oh, she had the best time. It was like Disneyland.”
Even though Selena is not a part of either of the Frozen movies, she and Gracie arrived on the red carpet in full matching themed costumes.
The premiere took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, which has recently gained fame as the home of the Academy Awards.
Disney’s Frozen film series has achieved such success that it has spawned a Broadway musical that opened at the St. James Theatre last year.
