The brand is well-known for its signature twisted silver designs and has been a favorite among A-list celebrities for decades. In March, Scarlett expressed her connection with the brand, saying “Growing up in New York, I’ve always felt connected to David Yurman. The Yurmans and their designs always embodied New York for me – bold, fresh and just a bit of edge.” She also expressed her excitement at being approached by Evan Yurman to be part of the campaign, citing it as a natural fit. Recently, Scarlett took legal action against an AI app that used her name and likeness for a commercial. This came after Tom Hanks warned his fans about something similar.

The skilled female performer was captured in photographs alongside other attendees. She was featured in a 22-second commercial that was placed on X (previously known as Twitter) by an AI-generated image-making application called Lisa AI: 90s Yearbook & Avatar. Sources close to the actress confirmed to Variety that she is not an official representative of the app and that her lawyer, Kevin Yorn, is handling the matter legally. According to the legal advisor, “We take such issues seriously, and as is our standard protocol in such circumstances, we will pursue all available legal options.” The ad appeared on social media on October 28th but seems to have been removed since then.

Variety has reported on an advertisement that disappeared shortly after airing. The ad featured Scarlett Johansson, and began with a clip from behind the scenes of her Black Widow movie. However, the ad then transitioned to AI-generated photos that resembled Johansson, with a fake voice imitating her own to promote the app. The AI Scarlett reminded viewers that the app was capable of creating images with texts, as well as AI videos. Although the ad contained fine print indicating that the images were produced by Lisa AI and had “nothing to do with this person”, the use of Johansson’s likeness may have violated laws around privacy and unauthorized advertising. In California, for example, it is illegal to use someone’s “name, voice, signature, photograph or likeness” for advertising or promotional purposes without their consent.
