Scarlett Johansson opens up about being pigeonholed into sexualized roles during her teenage years by male figures in Hollywood.

As a teenager working in Hollywood, Scarlett Johansson felt that she was being overly sexualized. Although she had her breakthrough role as an adult actress playing Charlotte in the 2003 movie Lost in Translation at the age of 18, her first leading role was in the film Manny & Lo when she was only 12 years old. During her teenage years and early 20s, Johansson often felt typecast into certain roles, which she believed contributed to being hypersexualized. She explained to The Sun that she was constantly being cast in roles that emphasized her sexuality, and although it seemed acceptable at the time, it left her feeling frustrated.

Scarlett Johansson, a renowned Hollywood actress aged 36, recently revealed that she felt over-sexualized during her teenage years while working in the industry. She also stated that she was typecast into certain roles during her teens and early twenties, which were not a part of her personal narrative but rather crafted for her by male industry professionals. However, she acknowledged that the present day scenario is different, and there are now numerous wonderful opportunities for women in Hollywood. Scarlett rose to fame with her breakthrough role in Lost in Translation at the age of 19, alongside Bill Murray, and is now one of Hollywood’s most prominent stars. Last year, she tied the knot with Colin Jost, 39, in an intimate ceremony at her home in the New York hamlet of Palisades in October.

Changing Times: Scarlett acknowledged that things are different now in an interview with The Sun. She admitted that although it wasn’t originally part of her story, it was probably crafted by a group of men in the industry. Scarlett was only 16 when she appeared in the movie Ghost World in 2001. Recently, there were rumors that Scarlett is expecting a baby, but neither she nor her husband Colin has confirmed anything yet. During an interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the actress revealed the unique “party favor” she and her new husband gave to their guests. Colin currently hosts Weekend Update on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, a role previously held by Seth, who also attended Scarlett’s recent wedding.

In 2018, Colin and Scarlett got married in a small ceremony at her home in Palisades, New York. During the event, they handed out masks with the phrase ‘Jost 2020’ printed on them, which Scarlett found to be a strange party favor but went along with it anyway. Seth was one of the fortunate individuals who received a mask. Scarlett previously wed Ryan Reynolds in 2008 but divorced in 2011. Looking back at the photos, Scarlett admitted that the masks were peculiar.

Reflecting on her past, Scarlett Johansson shared with Seth Meyers on Late Night about the “beautiful” and “intimate” pandemic wedding she had with Colin Jost. Following the year after, she entered a relationship with Romain Dauriac, a French ad executive, who became her second husband and father of her daughter Dorothy. Although they married in 2014, they had split by 2016, and Scarlett began dating Colin mid-2017 while still finalizing her divorce from her previous husband. Meanwhile, Colin, who had first met Scarlett on the set of Saturday Night Live in 2006, had never been married until this past October.

Radiant: Since around mid-2017, the couple has been in a relationship and can be seen together in a photo from the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, which was taken just a month before the coronavirus lockdowns began.
