Jason Statham wasn’t particularly enthusiastic about portraying a Bond villain, despite playing one (Deckard Shaw) in Furious 7. When questioned about taking on the role of a Bond antagonist in an interview with The Guardian, the actor hesitated and expressed, “Um… I don’t know if I want to do that. It’s not my thing. I’d prefer to portray the other guy.”

It is evident that portraying a villain in a Bond film is not something he desires. He did not disclose the reason behind his decision. Nevertheless, Statham admitted that he would “absolutely” love to play James Bond someday. The renowned Hollywood star also mentioned that Daniel Craig was a “great Bond,” but if he were to assume the iconic role, he would approach it in a different manner.

Jason Statham’s Desire to Portray James Bond

Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond has been a topic of discussion in recent interviews. Statham, in an interview with The Guardian, expressed his interest in taking on the iconic role himself. He stated, “Could I do it? Absolutely. Would I do it? Absolutely. Is Daniel Craig a great Bond? Absolutely.”

As an actor known for his roles in action films such as “The Beekeeper” and the “Transporter” series, Statham believes he could handle the Bond character. However, he acknowledges that his interpretation would be different, saying, “Yeah, I’d make a decent Bond, but it’d be very, very different if I did it.”

Statham’s comments came at a time when Craig was already set to play Bond in the upcoming film “Spectre.” Despite not being a part of the Bond franchise, Statham remains unfazed. He has found success in other popular franchises such as “Fast & Furious,” “The Expendables,” “Crank,” and many more.
