In a recent interview with Out magazine, the renowned pop star shared her plans to embark on a tour following the conclusion of her PLAY residency at Resorts World in Las Vegas. Perry expressed her desire to bring her show to fans who were unable to make it to her Vegas performances. She mentioned that her last tour was in 2018 and she feels it’s time to reconnect with her fans who missed out on seeing her live. Although she is proud of the show she presented in Vegas, it would be logistically challenging to transport all the intricate set pieces and costumes to various locations.
Katy Perry, 38, has expressed her eagerness to embark on a new tour once her Play residency at Resorts World in Las Vegas concludes. She described the residency as a spectacular show that she loves, comparing it to a greatest hits show. Perry affectionately refers to it as “all thriller, no filler” and wishes she could bring it to audiences worldwide.
Closing the chapter on Play allows Perry to venture into a new phase of her career, and she is excited about the potential for her story to continue. One of the advantages of performing through the residency is that it provides her with a more stable home life, especially now that she is a mother to her two-year-old daughter, Daisy, whom she shares with her fiance Orlando Bloom. Perry finds joy in being able to drop off her daughter at preschool and then go perform in Las Vegas. She returns late at night, around 11:30 pm, and still takes the time to make her daughter’s lunches.
Perry’s Play residency at Resorts World Las Vegas began on December 29, 2021, and has continued through 2022 and into 2023. Inspired by films like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Pee-wee’s Playhouse, and Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, the show is described as larger than life, with a kooky and campy atmosphere. The setlist consists of 19 songs, including popular hits like E.T., Dark Horse, California Gurls, Waking Up in Vegas, I Kissed a Girl, Never Really Over, Teenage Dream, Roar, and the show-stopping Firework. Play has received positive reviews from critics.

The show resumed for a sixth round of performances in Sin City on February 15, 2023, and additional shows are scheduled for April, May, July, August, and October. The grand finale of the show will be on November 4.
Perry’s last venture on the road was for Witness: The Tour, which supported her fifth studio album, Witness, released in 2017. Starting on September 19, 2017, the tour took her to various cities across North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Oceania, concluding in Auckland, New Zealand on August 21, 2018.
During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in September 2022, the singer, who has been nominated for the Grammy Awards thirteen times, expressed her desire to record a new studio album.
Her latest album, Smile (2020), entered the U.S. Billboard 200 at number five, making it Perry’s fifth top-10 album. However, unlike her previous album, One of the Boys (2008), Smile did not reach number one.
