In an unexpected move, Angelina Jolie, a mother of six kids, recently bared it all for Harper’s Bazaar magazine’s December issue. Besides the revealing photoshoot, she also candidly opened up about her personal life.
Angelina Jolie has agreed to be the featured personality for Harper’s Bazaar, a well-known fashion publication. In her photo shoot, she can be seen without any clothes and with a veil draped over her body. For a long time, Jolie did not feel at ease revealing her naked body in front of others. However, after some time, she has grown to be more confident and comfortable in her own skin. She expressed that the hardships of life can sometimes make us lose our sense of freedom, curiosity, and spontaneity. But her children have helped her rediscover her true self.
In an open and candid manner, the Hollywood star, who is 44 years old, revealed that her body has gone through a lot during the last ten years, especially in the past four. She bravely acknowledged that she had both visible and invisible scars in that area. Jolie underwent a double mastectomy as a preventive measure against breast cancer. Later on, she underwent surgery to have her ovaries removed.
Jolie has revealed that it’s the pain that can’t be seen that affects her the most. It’s clear that her unsuccessful marriage with Pitt was on her mind when she said, “Dealing with physical scars is easier than dealing with emotional ones. Life can take unexpected twists, and sometimes, when you get hurt, it’s by someone you love.” Love can be agonizing, and it can hinder one’s ability to be vulnerable and open their heart. But Jolie has found a way to move forward. She shared, “I can feel my heartbeat again, and it’s a sign that I’m healing.”
Jolie reminisces about her carefree and rebellious twenties, where she embraced her love for rock music, clothing made of leather, PVC, and fishnet stockings. Despite not being popular in school, she remained true to herself even after marrying her first husband, Jonny Lee Miller. During this period, Jolie pursued her passions without any inhibitions, traveling, experiencing freedom, and gaining knowledge about different cultures around the world. This time of exploration enabled her to pursue her interests in art and acting freely and led her to invest in building schools for girls in various countries.
The female performer revealed that if she didn’t have to stay in Los Angeles to take care of her kids with Brad Pitt, she would move overseas. She disclosed, “When my children are all grown up and 18 years old, I would love to live abroad. I’m currently living in the place where their father chose for us.”
According to the actress, her kids went through a tough time when she and her former partner split up, but they managed to pull through. Jolie admires their resilience and has taken lessons from it.
Jolie shared her approach to motherhood, stating that she doesn’t strive to be flawless. She explained in the movie “Mrs. Smith” that she believes categorizing individuals would restrict them from experiencing true freedom. Jolie values differences and diversity among her family and others. She expressed her desire to live in a world where people are not identical and wishes to meet new people and learn from them.
