While the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards celebrate remarkable ensemble performances, this category does not have an equivalent counterpart at the Oscars.
For the SAG Awards, nominees are selected through a voting process conducted by their fellow actors, with around 4,200 guild members chosen at random each year to submit their favorite choices.
The voting members are divided equally, with half of them casting their votes for outstanding television performances, while the other half decides who will be honored for their exceptional contributions to the film industry.

Once the polling process is complete, the combined body of both SAG and AFTRA, the esteemed acting unions in Hollywood, gathers to determine the victorious nominees in each category.
Setting the Tone: SAG takes the lead among other prestigious award ceremonies by being the first to unveil their nominees, sometimes resulting in notable films being left out of the mix.
In a surprising turn of events last year, The Wolf Of Wall Street missed the deadline to submit their screeners for the selection process, sadly barring it from gracing the award ceremony.

In the previous year, Django Unchained faced a similar issue at the awards, and this time it is Selma, a powerful civil rights film featuring Oprah Winfrey, Martin Sheen, and Tim Roth.

Like other prestigious award shows, the SAG Awards acknowledge outstanding performances in categories such as lead roles, supporting roles, and ensemble casts. This differs from the Oscars, which primarily focus on individual performances.

It is important to note that the SAG Awards solely celebrate the talent of actors and actresses, excluding the recognition of producers or directors.
