Gal Gadot, known for her role as Wonder Woman, is now venturing into the world of espionage with her latest project, Heart of Stone. This spy thriller is set to potentially kickstart a whole new franchise, as reported by Deadline. Gadot’s recent eight-figure deal for the film has placed her among the elite group of highest-earning actresses in Hollywood.
Spy Gal is expanding her horizons from the superhero world to the spy genre, following the success of Wonder Woman and the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984. The new project, which puts a female spin on the spy genre like James Bond and Mission: Impossible, is shrouded in mystery for now. Produced by David Ellison’s Skydance Productions, known for their work on Mission: Impossible and other spy-related projects like Jack Ryan and Jack Reacher, this new venture is sure to bring a fresh take to the world of espionage.
A new franchise is in the works, although no story details have been revealed yet. It promises to bring a fresh female perspective to the spy genre, similar to the James Bond and Mission: Impossible series. Skydance, known for producing action films with strong female leads like Terminator: Dark Fate and The Old Guard, is behind this project. Heart of Stone, written by Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder, is set to continue this trend of empowering female characters in action-packed movies. Rucka, who also worked on The Old Guard, will bring his expertise to this new venture alongside Schroeder, who received an Oscar nomination for Hidden Figures.
Heart of Stone shares a connection with The Old Guard as well, since it was penned by Greg Rucka, the mastermind behind both the screenplay adaptation and the graphic novel series that inspired the film. The action-thriller is set to be helmed by Tom Harper, known for directing The Aeronauts last year for Amazon Studios. The movie will be produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger, as well as Gal Gadot and Jason Varsano from their Pilot Wave production company, along with Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn. Skydance is reportedly considering both theatrical and streaming service options for the film’s release.
The upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 sequel, produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger, will have Gal Gadot and Jason Varsano from her Pilot Wave production company, as well as Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn on board. Fans will be thrilled to know that the movie will be released both in theaters and on HBO Max this Christmas.
Apart from her Wonder Woman role, Gadot can also be seen as Linnet Ridgeway Doyle in Disney/Fox’s Death on the Nile, which got postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic. She’s also working on Red Notice, a Netflix project where she stars alongside Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds.
The exciting news has just come out that the much-anticipated sequel Wonder Woman 1984 starring Gadot will be releasing on both the big screen and on HBO Max streaming service at the same time this Christmas Day.
