The Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced several female characters, but none can quite compare to Scarlett Johansson’s iconic portrayal of Black Widow. Many people admire her superhero persona and her signature moves, particularly the famous pose. However, Florence Pugh does not support it.

Florence Pugh portrays the character Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yelena is known to be a sister-like figure to Natasha Romanoff, played by Scarlett Johansson. Trained as a spy and assassin in the Red Room, Yelena initially targeted Natasha but eventually became her ally.
Interestingly, it was the introduction of the Black Widow pose that brought Florence Pugh into the MCU. However, Pugh has expressed her dissatisfaction with the stereotypical pose, which has now led to the rewriting of the script for the character.

When Florence Pugh arrived on the set of Black Widow, she brought with her a wealth of experience in the indie genre. She wasn’t shy about expressing her thoughts on the collaborative process, including her views on Scarlett Johansson’s iconic landing style in action scenes. Specifically, Pugh commented on the scene where Johansson performs a daring leap, gracefully coming to a stop with one leg extended, the opposite hand touching the ground, and the other arm bent.

Scarlett Johansson, in her role as Black Widow, was introduced to Florence Pugh on set. Pugh was informed by the team via Pedestrian TV that she would need to come up with a pose. Pugh expressed concern about the practicality of Scarlett’s pose, suggesting that it could be dangerous if she were actually landing from a height. Pugh then shared an amusing incident where she questioned Scarlett about the pose, causing the writer, Eric Pearson, to laugh hysterically. Despite the playful banter, Pearson decided to incorporate Pugh’s remarks into the film. After discussing with the team, Pugh’s input was approved and the script was rewritten, resulting in her character, Yelena Belova, not featuring a superhero pose in the movie. Florence Pugh will be returning as Marvel’s White Widow.
