Although All Too Well first appeared as a five-minute track on her popular 2012 album Red, Taylor actually penned a 10-minute version of the song with her co-writer Liz Rose. This longer version, believed to be inspired by her brief romance with actor Jake Gyllenhaal in late 2010 to early 2011, was eventually recorded and included as a bonus track on the re-recorded album.
In addition to the extended song, Taylor also crafted a nearly 15-minute short film as its music video. This film, recently revealed by The Hollywood Reporter to be eligible for consideration in the Oscar’s best live action short film category, adds another creative dimension to Taylor’s storytelling.
