Angelina Jolie’s Visit to Lviv, Ukraine: A Journey to Connect with Refugees and Surprise Visit to an Orphanage

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie recently journeyed to the city of Lviv in Ukraine with the intention of meeting and connecting with refugees. In addition to this compassionate act, the 47-year-old star also made a discreet visit to an orphanage but had no plans of expanding her family through adoption.

Snapshots of Angelina Jolie amidst her recent trip to Ukraine have emerged.
The iconic mother of six holds an esteemed position as a unique ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), yet her journey was conducted on a personal basis.

Angelia Jolie garnered global attention from the press when she discreetly made her way to the picturesque city of Lviv, located in Ukraine, on April 30th. The purpose of her visit was to meet and connect with refugees, specifically focusing on spending time with numerous children who have been affected by displacement. The renowned actress, known for her iconic role in the movie “Maleficent,” chose to spotlight her philanthropic efforts by making a clandestine visit to an orphanage during her trip, as revealed by the Daily Mail.

The famous actor from Hollywood is keeping quiet about his plans, as members of the crew have reportedly signed an agreement not to disclose any information. The local authorities were not informed about Angelina Jolie’s trip to an undisclosed orphanage, located approximately 90 minutes away from Lviv in the western direction.

A representative denied that Angelina Jolie traveled to Ukraine with the intention of adopting more children. This individual stressed that they kept this itinerary undisclosed for safety purposes.

In addition, the famous actress from the Tomb Raider movie also spent time visiting children receiving medical treatment at a hospital, as well as meeting and conversing with volunteers. Following that, she had the opportunity to engage with and speak to refugees at the city’s train station, which served as a transit point for 1.5 million Ukrainians seeking safety.

When the air raid warning sounded, the 1975-born star remained composed and quickly departed with her assistants, entering a waiting car. When asked if she experienced fear, the actress clarified that her main concern was not related to personal safety.

Journalists attempted to approach the actress at the train station but were informed that her visit was purely for personal reasons. “Angeline made it clear that she did not want any press coverage,” shared a volunteer who managed to take pictures with the renowned Hollywood star at the station. Recently, Angeline served as a special envoy in Yemen, a country experiencing a devastating war, where millions of individuals had to be evacuated.

Prior to having three biological children – Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne – with Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie expanded her family through adoption by welcoming three children into her life in succession. She first adopted Maddox from Cambodia, followed by Zahara from Ethiopia, and then Pax Thien from Vietnam, all of whom came from orphanages in their respective home countries.

The celebrated actress once discussed the significance of honoring her three adopted children’s origins in an interview with Vogue. The Academy Award-winning actress expressed, “Within my three adopted children, there lies a captivating mystery about the world they were born into. They hail from a different race and a different land, which is an extraordinary gift. No matter what, children will always maintain a connection to their place of birth. They possess their own unique roots that we must respect and learn from. It is not just the children entering my world, but rather, we are entering each other’s worlds.” She further emphasized that the words “adopt” and “orphan” hold positive meanings within their family.
