Competing against eleven other outstanding films, including The Big Sick, Call Me By Your Name, Dunkirk, Get Out, I, Tonya, Lady Bird, Molly’s Game, The Post, The Shape Of Water, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, the competition was fierce.
At the recent Critics’ Choice Awards, Gal praised women who are dedicated to accurately representing women in the entertainment industry.
The 32-year-old actress looked absolutely amazing in a plunging black Giorgio Armani Prive dress, which featured a sheer skirt and bodice. During her acceptance speech, she expressed her gratitude and dedicated her award to all the women and men who support justice and advocate for those who cannot defend themselves. She also addressed the issue of sexual harassment in Hollywood and vowed to never be silenced, emphasizing the importance of unity for equality. Reflecting on the past, she remarked on the lack of female-led movies and directors when she began her career, but celebrated the recent success of women in the film industry.
Her blockbuster superhero movie was nominated for the prestigious Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures, along with ten other films.
During her acceptance speech, she highlighted the success of female-led films such as Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Beauty And The Beast, and Wonder Woman, directed by the talented Patty Jenkins. She also pointed out that there were eight other movies in the top 100 directed by women, showing progress in the industry but acknowledging that there is still work to be done.
Gal stressed the importance of not just entertaining audiences but also inspiring and educating them about love and respect, emphasizing the responsibility that comes with being in the entertainment industry.
Patty Jenkins, who directed Wonder Woman, presented Gal with the award and praised her as her “real Wonder Woman,” showing their mutual admiration and respect for each other.
