Dua Lipa drops fresh track for upcoming Barbie movie

Dua Lipa has just dropped a new track called “Dance The Night” which is set to feature on the soundtrack of the upcoming Barbie movie. The song is the lead single from the album, creatively titled Barbie: The Album, and coincides with the release of a music video showcasing snippets of the film as well as a cameo appearance from director Greta Gerwig.

Lipa gave her fans a sneak peek of her new song’s release through an Instagram video on Tuesday. The singer will also appear as a character in the upcoming movie as a Mattel doll. “This Barbie has a song coming this week…FRIDAY MIDNIGHT BST,” she wrote in the video’s caption while playing a preview of the upbeat track. On Thursday, she shared the music video and announced that “DANCE THE NIGHT” was written for @barbiethemovie. Lipa and her friends @iammarkronson, @wyattish, and @carolineailin created the song, which is available for streaming on all platforms. Barbie: The Album, produced by Mark Ronson, features songs from Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, HAIM, Charli XCX, and Ryan Gosling, the film’s lead actor. On July 21, the album and movie will be released simultaneously.
