Taylor Swift received a substantial grant from the Singapore Tourism Board to bring her musical talents to the wealthy country as part of her Eras Tour.
The 34-year-old American pop star recently kicked off a six-show series at the National Stadium in Singapore on March 2. This marks her first and only performance in the diverse region of South-East Asia, home to around 666 million people across 11 distinct countries.
Swift’s decision to only hold concerts in Singapore, a country known for its wealth, caused a stir with Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. Thavisin recently alleged that Singapore paid Swift a significant amount, reportedly around $4.6 million per concert, to secure her exclusive performances. This revelation came to light after the deal had already been finalized.
