Having made a bold fashion statement last weekend at the Golden Globes, Dua Lipa continued her awards season run at tonight’s Critics Choice Awards. Lipa has been nominated for Best Song for “Barbie’s Dance the Night.” Barbie itself has 18 nominations at the ceremony, including Best Acting Ensemble and Best Picture. Lipa played Mermaid Barbie in the film, making her part of that nominated group.
On the red carpet, Lipa embraced a literal English rose aesthetic, wearing a red Prada column dress with floral detailing. She wore her red hair half up, half down. Lipa accessorized with Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany & Co. earrings.

Lipa’s night out tonight comes after the singer sparked dating rumors with actor Callum Turner. According to a source, Turner and Lipa are a couple and they are really into each other. In December, Lipa spoke about the success of the film “Barbie” and how it defied expectations. She mentioned that the film was both fun and funny, but also had emotional moments that made her contemplate her place and what is expected of her, especially as a woman.
She also reflected on the process of writing the song “Dance the Night” and what it taught her. Writing for a film was something new for her, but she realized the power of being able to write lyrics like a score. She could narrate a story and describe what is happening in the scene, merging the worlds of music and film. The song can stand alone, but when combined with the film, it is perfectly tailored for that specific moment in the story.
