In a recent interview, the renowned celebrity opened up about her upcoming album, Revival, revealing that it was profoundly influenced by her ability to rise above and disregard the harsh scrutiny regarding her body.
During an interview with Extra, Selena openly discussed how she received a significant amount of negative attention regarding her body and apparent weight gain. Admitting that it did impact her emotionally, she found solace in channeling those feelings into her music. Interestingly, Selena was going through this tumultuous experience while she was in Mexico, where she was busy collaborating on her upcoming album with her beloved team of producers and writers.
When it came to creating the music, she explained, “I felt like everyone was speaking their minds, and I wanted to have a voice too,” even if it wasn’t directly related to the topic at hand.
Songs like ‘Survivors,’ ‘Kill ‘Em With Kindness,’ and ‘Rise’ were all about me wanting to be heard, and I genuinely believe that this is the best work I’ve ever done in my entire career,” Selena shared, mentioning that she had expressed her support and sympathy to her friends Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift in response to the hurtful comments they have faced online.
During the promotion of her upcoming animated film, Transylvania 2, Selena also revealed that she had temporarily uninstalled her Instagram app from her phone as a way to shield herself from any disrespectful remarks.
The actress shared her viewpoint on how challenging it has become to connect with people on a deeper level, expressing, “It really disappoints me as it’s difficult to overlook all of that.”
“I had to uninstall Instagram from my phone and abstain from using it for a whole week,” the individual mentioned. “It’s ridiculous, and I can’t even fathom having to deal with it at thirteen. My only concern is for young children who might think, ‘You have to ignore it; you need to understand that you are unique, and the only thing that matters is finding happiness.'”
“It’s hard to give a definitive answer because, well, I’ve experienced it firsthand,” they added.
