Taylor Swift and her partner Travis Kelce have conflicting schedules this week in Los Angeles. Although both will be in the city, Kelce won’t be able to attend the 2024 Golden Globes with Swift.
The 34-year-old singer is set to attend the prestigious awards ceremony on Sunday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel as she is one of the nominees this year. Swift is nominated in the new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category for her concert film Eras Tour, which has been a massive success, grossing over $250 million worldwide in just under three months.
On the same night, Travis Kelce, who is 34 as well, will be playing for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium. It’s worth noting that Swift had previously performed six sold-out shows at the same venue back in August.
Unfortunately for Kelce, his commitment to the game means he won’t be able to accompany Swift to the red carpet and the various after-parties associated with the Golden Globes. According to a source, Kelce will be heading back to Kansas City immediately after the game to prepare for the upcoming NFL playoffs.
Swift’s documentary, Eras Tour, has the potential to win her first-ever Golden Globe award. With a budget of $15 million, the documentary was filmed during one of Swift’s LA shows and was released in theaters on October 13. The film, which spans almost three hours, provides an opportunity for fans who missed out on tickets to experience the magic of the show from beginning to end.
However, the competition in the new award category is tough, with box office hits Barbie and Oppenheimer vying for the same prize. This year, Swift received her fifth Golden Globe nomination in her career, following four previous nominations for Best Original Song.
Among the nominated songs are Carolina for the film ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ (2023), Beautiful Ghоst for ‘Cats’ (2020), Sweeter Than Fiction for ‘One Chance’ (2014), and Safe & Sound for ‘The Hunger Games’ (2013). While Swift attended her first three nomination ceremonies, she was noticeably absent from last year’s event.
In 2020, Swift walked the red carpet with her now-ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, although they arrived separately. After a six-year relationship, the former couple divorced in early 2023. Swift also had the opportunity to present alongside Idris Elba at the 2019 Golden Globes.
As for seating arrangements this year, the executive producers of the Golden Globes, Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner, stated that Swift can choose to sit wherever she pleases. Although Swift and Kelce will be separated on Sunday night, they celebrated the start of 2024 together at a New Year’s Eve party in Kansas City, Missouri.
According to an insider from Page Six, despite the CBS awards show happening before the big game, Kelce intends to return to Kansas City with his teammates immediately after to prepare for the NFL playoffs.
Videos shared by their friends captured a sweet moment between Kelce and Swift. One video caught them kissing at midnight, while another showed them smooching in the background throughout the festivities.
After cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs to victory against the Cincinnati Bengals, Kelce and Swift continued the celebrations late into the night.
Swift arrived at Arrowhead Stadium sporting a Chiefs jacket similar to the one Kelce wore on Christmas Day, with her own personalized touch – ‘Tay’ stitched into the sleeve, a nickname Kelce has used for her in the past.
The couple has been spending quality time together as Swift takes a break from touring while Kelce navigates through a demanding NFL season. Fortunately, with the Chiefs having two home games on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, Kelce has been able to spend more time at home.
The Chiefs’ recent victory in the AFC West gave Kelce even more reasons to celebrate. With one regular season game left, they will soon focus on the playoffs.
Although Swift’s Eras Tour doesn’t resume until February, if the Chiefs make it to the Super Bowl, taking place in Vegas on February 11, Swift might have to make a last-minute trip from Tokyo, where she will have just finished her initial shows in 2024, to the west coast to support Kelce.
