Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, who are currently dating, will both be in Los Angeles this week. However, Kelce will unfortunately not be able to join Swift at the 2024 Golden Globes. The 81st annual ceremony is set to take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, and Swift is expected to attend as she is one of this year’s nominees. Swift received a nomination in the new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category for her concert film Eras Tour, which has generated over $250 million in worldwide earnings in less than three months.
On the night of the Golden Globes, Kelce will be busy with his football team, the Kansas City Chiefs, as they go head-to-head against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium. Interestingly, this is the same venue where Swift had six sold-out shows in August. Despite the game taking place before the awards show, a source has revealed that Kelce intends to return to Kansas City immediately after the game along with his teammates in order to prepare for the NFL playoffs. Unfortunately, this means that Kelce will have to miss out on walking the red carpet and attending the Golden Globe after-parties.
Swift’s Eras Tour documentary has the potential to secure her first-ever Golden Globe award. The documentary, which was produced on a lavish $15 million budget, captures one of Swift’s electrifying LA concerts and was released in theaters on October 13. Spanning almost three hours, the film allows fans who were unable to secure tickets to relish in the enchantment of the show. Nevertheless, Swift faces formidable competition in the newly introduced award category, with movies like Barbie and Oppenheimer making a strong impact at the box office.
This year’s Golden Globe nomination marks Swift’s fifth in her career, with her previous four nominations being for Best Original Song. Among the nominated songs are Carolina for the film ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ (2023), Beautiful Ghоst for ‘Cats’ (2020), Sweeter Than Fiction for ‘One Chance’ (2014), and Safe & Sound for ‘The Hunger Games’ (2013). While Swift enthusiastically attended her first three nomination ceremonies, she tactfully skipped last year’s event. At the 2020 Golden Globes, she made an appearance on the red carpet alongside her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, though they chose to walk independently. Unfortunately, their romantic relationship came to an end in early 2023, marking the conclusion of their six-year journey together.
Notably, Swift also had the honor of presenting an award alongside Idris Elba at the 2019 Golden Globes. As for her seating arrangements this year, the Golden Globes’ executive producers, Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner, have given Swift complete freedom to choose her preferred spot. Although she and Kelce will be physically separated on Sunday night, they did celebrate the arrival of 2024 together at a vibrant New Year’s Eve party in Kansas City, Missouri, over the weekend.
According to a source, despite the CBS awards show happening before the big game, Kelce plans to return to Kansas City with his teammates immediately after in order to prepare for the NFL playoffs.
Videos shared by friends captured the midnight celebration, where Kelce and Taylor were caught kissing as the clock struck twelve.
Another video showed Travis and Taylor kissing in the background throughout the festivities.
After cheering on Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs to victory against the Cincinnati Bengals, they continued to party throughout the night.
Swift arrived at Arrowhead Stadium wearing the same Chiefs jacket Kelce had on during the Christmas Day NFL game. Upon closer inspection, her version had ‘Tay’ stitched into the sleeve, a nickname previously used by Travis.
As the singer takes a break before her 2024 tour, they have been spending a lot of time together.
Although Kelce is in the midst of an exhausting NFL season, he will have two home games on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, allowing him to spend more time at home.
After winning the AFC West, there is even more reason for Kelce to celebrate.
The Chiefs will finish their regular season in Los Angeles against the Chargers before focusing on the playoffs.
If the Chiefs make it to the Super Bowl, which will be held in Vegas on February 11, Swift may have to rush from Tokyo, where she will have just finished her first shows of 2024, to the west coast to support Kelce.
