Since the release of Jaws, summer just doesn’t feel complete without a thrilling shark movie. In the upcoming film The Meg, set to hit theaters on August 10, Jason Statham, a 51-year-old actor, takes on the role of a daring rescuer who must save a team of researchers on a deep-sea facility from a massive ancient shark known as a megalodon. Young Statham was part of a family band, where he played the drums alongside his father and older brother. Despite showcasing impressive motor skills in the Fast and Furious franchise, the real-life Statham initially struggled to pass his driving test, facing more than one failure. In addition to his acting talents, Statham was also a competitive diver, representing England at the 1990 Commonwealth Games held in New Zealand. Interestingly, Statham has appeared in three films where his character encounters an ax attack: The Transporter (2002), Transporter 2 (2005), and War (2007).
